The Lesbian Herstory Archives and CLAGS have teamed up with the Studio Museum for a podcast interview with Cassandra Grant, one of the original members of the Salsa Soul Sisters, a Third World Women organization that emerged in New York City in the 1970s. In this Studio Salon, LGBTQ Archivist and CLAGS Coordinator Syd Baloue, will be in conversation with Cassandra Grant who was a recent donor of the Salsa Soul Sisters collection to the Lesbian Herstory Archives. They will discuss the history of the Salsa Soul Sisters and lesbian of color existence in the 70s and now.
Throughout the run of Radical Reading Room at Studio Museum 127, drop by on the first and third Saturdays of each month to contribute your text to the community archive and discuss its personal and collective importance. Centering radical approaches to storytelling, programs in this series may take the form of writing workshops, zine-making workshops, or live oral histories led by members of our creative community.
