Commemorating the closing of Derrick Adams: Patrick Kelly, The Journey, exhibiting artist Derrick Adams is joined by Kerby Jean-Raymond, fashion designer and founder of luxury fashion brand Pyer Moss, to exchange ideas on fashion, creativity, and social justice. Derrick Adams will lead an exhibition tour followed by a conversation highlighting fashion and contemporary art as spaces for socio-political engagement. Using Patrick Kelly's dynamic and politically engaged approach to fashion as a point of departure, Adams and Jean-Raymond will speak to their personal influences, individual practices, and the radical potential of the runway.

Derrick Adams: Patrick Kelly, The Journey features a series of abstract collages that emulate the vintage clothing patterns, iconic fabrics, bold geometric forms, and bodily contours found in Kelly's work. On view from May 3, 2017 to February 23, 2018, the exhibition was presented by The Studio Museum in Harlem in partnership with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, where Kelly's work is archived, and the New York Public Library's Countee Cullen Library branch.
