The Studio Museum in Harlem held its annual gala on Monday, October 30, with a festive evening of dinner, dancing and celebration.
Gala 2017 honored internationally-acclaimed architect Sir David Adjaye OBE, Principal of Adjaye Associates. Adjaye has contributed tremendously to the world of architecture and culture over the past two decades, and is collaborating with the Museum on the design of our new building.
Thanks to the continued support of philanthropist George Wein, the event also featured the presentation of the Joyce Alexander Wein Artist Prize to Simone Leigh, the twelfth artist to receive this prestigious $50,000 cash award. The Studio Museum in Harlem is thrilled to announce that Gala 2017 raised a record $2.3 million thanks to the generosity and support of the Museum’s incredible patrons, artists and friends.
